Growing Children

It’s all about relationship

divider-01-free-img

Children who experience trauma are impacted in all areas of their lives. We understand that healing takes place in relationship and our goal is to support parents, families and professionals to engage with children in a trauma-informed way and to build relationships that can nurture growth and healing.

Growing Children offers assessments and therapy for children, as well as training and consulting services for parents, caregivers, professionals and organisations.

Our focus is the prevention of trauma and the treatment of children who have experienced trauma and adversity. We provide strategies to buffer children from the inevitable struggles of life and to empower parents to grow resilience in their children. We work closely with professionals to support children and families who have experienced significant trauma, as they journey towards healing.

How we help

Understanding trauma and the effect that it has on the brain, especially that of a developing child, is essential to understand that a child is not being intentionally naughty or manipulative. The child is often functioning from the "survival brain" which means they do whatever they can to survive in the moment because that is what past, threatening experiences have taught them to do.
